DISASTER COORDINATION HEAD OFFICE
In order to ensure coordination between the units within our Municipality, other Public Institutions and Civil Society Organizations within the scope of 'Integrated Disaster Management' before, during and after all possible disasters that may occur in our city, and to meet all needs related to the interventions to be made and to regularly prepare the necessary reports regarding the disasters, our AKOM Branch Directorate was established in 2022 under the Fire Department.
OUR DUTIES
1. To keep the plans and programs prepared by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality units and stakeholder institutions and organizations up-to-date in order to ensure the fastest and most effective response to a disaster.
2. To ensure the activation and coordination of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality units, aid teams, and rescue teams with other public institutions and NGOs in the event of a possible disaster.
3. To report the work done by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality units after possible disasters and submit them to the relevant authorities and units.
4. To ensure that the Disaster Coordination Center and Command and Control Vehicle, as well as other incident scene coordination vehicles, operate 24/7.
5. To support projects and studies carried out by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality units in the field of Disaster Management (Risk Management and Crisis Management).
6. To expand the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Volunteer network and coordinate the training activities to be carried out.
